Written in Ink – Sara Davison

Written in Ink is a romantic suspense novel, dealing with a family of characters. The main characters are Dr Renee Dawson and Cash McCall. Cash has been in love with Renee for as long as he remembers, and he has a good idea of what their lives will look like in the future.

Until Renee pops in one evening and ends the relationship and Cash has no idea why. It was such a dramatic start to the story, that it pulls you right in. Cash is heartbroken and struggles to make sense of life. His brother Jude comes to help him through the darkest moments.

Jude and his wife-to-be Summer is another storyline, with quite a bit of backstory filtering through. Jude has recently become a Christian and he advises Cash to get in touch with Jude’s pastor.

Renee is struggling with a huge decision she has made, knowing she has shattered Cash’s heart as well as her own. The decision also brings danger.

There is another storyline in the book. There is an extremist militant group called The Arm. The group leader is prepared to go to extreme lengths to achieve his goals. Renee spots something that she wasn’t meant to see, so her life is now in danger. The group description is interesting, as well as terrifying.

Sara Davison, the author, has brought several storylines together in this haunting book. She deals with grief, forgiveness and second chances in a beautiful way. She draws us into the characters’ lives, showing them to be ordinary people who had difficult decisions to make.

Written in Ink shows the power of kindness and how huge a difference it can make, literally saving lives. It also shows there aren’t quick fixes in life and that which people may present as an easy way out, has long-term consequences.

Written in Ink isn’t a light read, but it’s heartwarming at the same time as it deals with God, family and belonging. It has some wonderful insights.
